While excited at the prospects of the issuance, I think that they need to accelerate development to include ways to use tokens other than upvotes and speculation to ensure more sustainability for the project.

Exactly and this is a really important point!
This is great for Steemhunt, though we do need to bear in mind the success of Steemhunt or any other Steem App affects us as well.
The support we Steemians can give to Steemhunt for now is the hodl.
