Why I Strongly Dislike Christmas

Most people world wide enjoy this holiday for a variety of reasons from:
Family gatherings: This is utter chaos for me as an HSP and offspring of a divorced family. One or two "family" christmases turn into four. Christmas is merely an excuse for people to see each other once a year. It's the ONE time of the year they see each other and for good reason; most of them don't get along, hence the awkward dinner table silence or strange conversation.
Gift giving & receiving: December 25th as many know it, is not when Christ was born & gifts bestowed upon him; many signs by historians point to a time in possibly March or April as a birthdate for Christ. But, that would mess up the other commercial holiday Easter wouldn't it? Christmas has turned into a highly commercialized holiday and that is all that matters to most people, what they can get out of Christmas, not what they can do for others.
Various associated religious reasons. I am nearly 32 and have been brought up in a "traditional" Christian home & have fit into all those categories at one time or another. I say "traditional" because it was extreme right wing beat your kids so they do not go to hell "Christian."
These days I am at my wits end being unemployed and barely making it. My gifts to people this year consisted of post cards I spent meticulous time coloring that'll probably just end up in a waste basket, or given back to me (Yes, this actually happened & the events leading up to that will forever haunt me and deeply sadden me.). Here's my latest one that I'm doing all various hues of purple snowflakes for my grandmother's Christmas & following birthday. Purple is her favorite color.
Sorry to grinch out but this Christmas and last have been some of, but not the worst times of my life. December is also the year I lost a dear friend 16 years ago. This is the last Christmas i plan to celebrate. It's just another day people. If you can't afford to get someone the latest new electronic, you're wasting your time. Here's to hoping 2020 is a better year for me and whoever doesn't desert me.

If you don't mind me saying you might still have some kool-aid in your cup of religious control indoctrination. Docetism, as a spiritual belief, was wiped off the earth as a possible explanation for the Jesus figure, and if that's true he was never born and can never die: 'he's' an aeon/archon...
But it's just that Christianity makes so much sense: The belief that some cosmic Jewish Zombie can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul present in humanity because a rib woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree!

I'm not drinking any "koolaid" merely explaining various misconceptions amongst modern day believers of christianity, never stated I was a profound Christian and I am not one anyway, so don't pull the ass- u- me move please. i was merely stating the idiocy of modern "Christian holidays"
Thank you for being so polite by saying please! It's not really important but I didn't say you were drinking Koolaid...only that the cup (brought to us by the social engineers) still had some in it.

I don't like religion very much. It turns people into mindless zombies. Then they all fake that they're good, just because they're religious. Ugh.

It is up to you to decide what you want your Christmas to be like. I loved my family Christmases growing up and with 9 kids in the family, it was never about what was under the tree. My dad made a lot of things and we never knew we didn't have much money. My parents never told us. ;)
To this day, most Thanksgivings are spent working in shelters and serving dinner to those that have nowhere to go and nobody to be with. It could be a senior home or homeless shelter. My whole family does it. The last two years, we didn't but feel like we want to do it again next year.
My point is that if you don't want to celebrate, you can help others celebrate. Their is so much reward in that (to me anyway) Plus the fact that it is fun. And these people have all been grateful and boomerang that love right back.
Life is tough. And hopefully, it will get better. Here is to 2020~

Yes i too have helped at homeless shelters and have always enjoyed giving more than receiving. As the saying goes, it is what it is! Just gotta keep our heads up and keep moving forward. Happy new year Denise!
