Fitness Tips During the Holidays

During the Holidays, it can be harder than ever to maintain fitness & remain disciplined. Even the best of us can succumb to overeating and being overly sedentary during the Holidays. Obviously, with family & friends around in almost hoards, it can be difficult to stay on point with our fitness goals. I wanted to offer three quick tips that have helped me over the years.

  1. Be creative - find yourself a pocket of time (20 or 30 minutes) to go for a brisk walk or run/ jog depending on your fitness level. The point here being, it doesn't have to take up a lot of your time. This will help you burn off extra calories and jumpstart your metabolism.
  2. Graze method - when surrounded by coma inducing calorie laden holiday foods - graze!! Yes, small amounts of food at a time. That is a good general practice in life & there is research to support the grazing idea. Small meals are more easily & quickly digestible.
  3. Drink LOTS of water - another good general tip. Hydration is key. Also you will be less likely to overeat if you are hydrated! It's amazing how little water I see people drinking over the Holidays.

As you can see these tips are also great for general life but particularly useful during holidays. Enjoy yourself and Merry Christmas to YOU all!

I think the best tip is to walk.
Walk past the buffet.
Walk away from the cookies. Lol.

If you have developed muscle mass = developed basal metabolic rate, you don't have to worry. If you see more kilos on the scale after the holidays, it is mostly water that you got trough increased intake of carbs and salt.

It will be gone in a week after you return to resistance training, and for some it will help to fill the glycogen :)

That's true also!

Fitness? During the Holidays? How dare you? eats chocolate furiously OM-NOM-NOM.

Still, upvoted for the effort :p

Oh no worries, I have been splurging 😊

Eat, drink and be Merry Christmas.
