Caturday- Health Concern
Happy Caturday (though everyday is Caturday.) On Tuesday night I noticed my cat waking up from a nap and keeping his left eye closed. Thought that was pretty strange though he seemed in no apparent distress. He kept it closed constantly so I sequestered him from the other cats in my room so I could monitor him. Meanwhile, I was in communication with my vet cousin. Wednesday morning he was still doing it so I kept him in his own little area, away from the other cats. I came back from work and he mostly had it opened. Though was squinty eyed.
During the time he was keeping it closed I received information to apply a warm compress to the eye. There was some slight weeping and yellow-ish goo from the eye, though very slight. I figured the warm compress must feel good as it did for me when I had eye infections before. He actually received it well.
By Friday he was completely fine and I was one relieved cat mom.
It appears he had an eye infection for sure, just because of the weeping & goo. Not sure why he got it.... who knows?
Tips:
- if your cat (or dog) is keeping their eye squinted shut, there's a reason
- look for signs of heat, redness, or warmth from the eye or around it
- if you see none look for weeping of the eye. In my cats case he had some slight weeping and yellow-ish goo which is indicative of an eye infection.
- apply clean warm compress to eye and clean the weeping area. Discard the used compress.
- take the cat IMMEDIATELY to vet if there are more severe signs heat around the eye or bleeding from the eye.
- if the animal has the less severe signs like mine did should still take the cat to the vet within 48-72 hours if not resolved.
Alrighty, that will conclude my Caturday. Hope everyone's cats & animals are doing well. =)

Cats don’t have sweat glands over their bodies like humans do. Instead, they sweat only through their paws.
Thx cat facts I didn't know that
A cat’s heart beats nearly twice as fast as a human heart, at 110 to 140 beats a minute.
Oh so glad he is ok @chelsea88. What a cutie he is! Happy #caturday! And, yes everyday is caturday for me too! lol 😻
Thank he's definitely a cutie even with one eye closed. Lol
