Arsenal Terminate Two Contracts
Arsenal is clearinghouse with the club calling time on two players' contracts, namely Kolasinac and Iliev. Both players would not see first-team game time and still have a reasonable career ahead of them with one being 26 and the other 28. It's always sad to see a player sit on the bench and not get to showcase their talents and it's time to move on.
See ya Sead
In the case of Kolasinac, he has agreed to cut his time at Arsenal short and move on to Marseille for free. Linking up with both gunners Geundouzi and Saliba. Kolasinac joins the French side on an 18-month deal after his Arsenal contract was mutually terminated six months early.
Goodbye Iliev
The next to call it quits is Deyan Iliev who terminated his contract with Arsenal by mutual consent. The North Macedonian had been in the Emirates for nine years and has yet to see first-team opportunities. He joined Arsenal as a promising youngster of 15 coming from FK Belasica in 2012.
Iliev had hopes of becoming a regular at Arsenal and did well in the club’s youth teams but like Martinez couldn't wait any longer for his chance.
Iliev wasn't even at the club this season as he spent the season on loan at Slovakian Super League side SKF Sered. However, he has cut his time short with the loan deal and with the gunners and is now a free agent. It's a bold move but now is the time to build a senior career for himself at another club, and I hope he does well.
The departures are stacking up
The departures of these two players make it four players to leave the Emirates this month, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles moving to Roma and Folarin Balogun's loan switch to Middlesbrough.
