7 Sites Bloggers Can Use Syndicate their Content

in #movies6 years ago (edited)

So you told about this blogging thing and how great it is as a traffic driver and heard of all the amazing success stories and viral blog posts bringing in 1000s of customers or ad revenue without spending a cent.

It is a beautiful feeling once your blog starts to gain traction but unfortunately not every person or businesses blog will get those opportunities.

There are over a billion blogs currently indexed by Google all pumping out content and trying to compete for search traffic. That is a lot of competition to deal with, and Google is just not going to give you the credit you deserve unless you keep taking swings at it and remain consistent.

Giving up too early

Giving up is the number one problem for new blogs. Bloggers take the time to research, write and create fantastic content and yet no appears to be interested in, they get discouraged, and after a few posts, eventually quit. Blogging is a long tail game and its all about consistency regardless of the numbers you're getting.

What is content syndication?

Content syndication is a term used by bloggers and content marketers to describe the act of re-posting your content on websites that are open to accepting contributions from guest authors. Syndication websites allow you to post the same content or slightly varied content with the aim of capitalising on their audience and including a link directly to the original post.

What is self-syndication?

Content syndication isn't easy, having to find relevant blogs and then contacting the admin/owner/webmaster/editorial team and pitching them one of your posts and getting them to publish it on their site and link back to you is a tough ask. Most bloggers shy away from this task and those that do have very little success. Which is why getting syndicated even once is such a powerful SEO tactic and can make all the difference in lifting your blog up the rankings.

If you don't have the patience of the courage to go syndicating there are ways to get your blog in front of more users without having to jump through loops. Self-publishing and self-service blogging sites are a great way of syndicating your content on other sites to reach new audiences. Users visit these sites every day looking for fun and exciting content in their niche so why not leverage this interest and put your hand up and tell them to check you out.

So where can you syndicate your blogs without having to break out the puppy dog eyes?

1. Medium

Medium is a blogging and social media platform for lovers of long-form content. Medium is one of the easiest ways to blog online, and many users with sites use it to syndicate their posts.

If your content strategy focusses on long-form blog posts, then Medium might be for you. Medium is great for connecting with like-minded people and building relationships for content opportunities and collaborations.

Remember you're not the only one on Medium looking to syndicate, so you may find other users doing the same thing. If you do, contact them directly and offer a content collaboration opportunity or guest post exchange and leverage one another audiences.

2. Linkedin Pulse

LinkedIn Pulse is an online news aggregation feed within LinkedIn designed for members to share self-published content with their audience. The platform lives within the bigger LinkedIn ecosystem. Pulse allows you to generate news stories, blog posts and insights from businesses and individuals looking to build their profile and extend their reach within their target audience.

Linkedin naturally gives Pulse articles preferences in their algorithms so you should get a bump in reach as opposed to merely posting your blog as a link.

3. Mix

Mix was launched in June of 2018 and is the successor to the now sunset StumbleUpon. Mix.com is a social content curation site that allows you to collect articles, and content about specific interests or topics that you like. The site will enable you to submit your blog posts for consideration and Mix users can randomly discover them based on content topics they may show interest in reading. When you curate and add to your collections, your content is shared with friends and made discoverable to others on Mix who share similar interests.

4. Tumblr

Tumblr is a microblogging, and social networking website founded in 2007 and currently hosts 450 million blogs. The service allows users to post multimedia and other content to a short-form blog. Tumblr Users can follow other users' blogs and is a great way to engage with fellow bloggers and yes start collaborative content initiatives.

6. Reddit

Reddit is one of the most diverse interest networks on the internet with small communities built under one site. These communities are called subreddits, which are forums based on a particular interest or topic.

To date, Reddit has over 1.2 million subreddits. All you will have to do is find the community that matches your content and engage with users, you may be able to syndicate on the subreddit if you cosy up to the admins or find syndication opportunities on fellow Reddit users websites.

7. Steemit

Steemit is a blogging and social networking website that uses the Steem blockchain and cryptocurrency to reward publishers and curators. Steemit is an open and decentralised platform with no censorship. The platform currently has over 1 million accounts/blogs

Proptip! If you're post gets upvoted to a value of over $13 or more the links in your post will automatically be updated to "do follow" links, which has some great SEO benefits. If you've tried to find sites and paid post opportunities for your blogs you'll know that Steemit is also probably one of the cheapest "do follow" links you'll find on the internet right now. This is not a set rule though and its subject to change but while you can, I recommend you should reap the benefits.

Note: Bonus sites(8 & 9) - As mentioned Steemit is an open source blockchain platform with multiple sites built on top of the bigger STEEM blockchian. Posting on Steemit will also ensure your blogs are visible on dApps like Busy.org and Steempeak, so you are getting 3x the reach & linking opportunities.

How should you syndicate your content?

When I speak about content syndication, often people will ask me am I not creating duplicate content. Google has set in motion this fear that duplicate content is this mortal sin and you shouldn't re-post anything which isn't true. Syndicating content is not about Google rankings, it's about spreading your message through a fantastic piece of content.

Not all pieces of content need to be syndicated, and you should use this method selectively and pick your strongest pieces for additional amplification. Syndication is about getting your ideas and content in front of new eyes so don't worry too much about "follow links" and the SEO benefits.

If you are insisting on using this as a traffic driver, you could post a teaser article as syndication and get users hooked, and if they want to read further, they can check out the entire piece on your site.

If you are pedantic about things, you can also rewrite your article to appeal to specific audiences or arrange it to speak to a particular topic first to capture users of different interests.

There is no right or wrong approach to content syndication; it's all about what you aim to get out of it that will change your methods.

I have been blogging since 2006. But the blog still has no traction at all! I have to admit that it went into hibernation sometimes.
Last week I finally made it a banner for it. And I did decide to re-activate it.
The reason behind it is that I do feel the urge to cross post more, this would be a great way to advertise Steem and Steemmonsters!

If you want to have a laugh you can check it out at https://dremeber-mybets.blogspot.com

Blogging is just like everything on the internet it’s a gamble! Each post is basically a bet and sometimes they pay off and most times they don’t do much!

It’s really all about consistently plugging away at it and eventually it pays off same like steemit

A little cross posting never hurt, you’ll be amazed at how people stumble their way through the internet and find content

Lol this blog is pretty ancient looking yeah

I guess blogger is ancient!
If you have some recommendations feel free to share them!
I did polish up the layout but I guess I didn’t do a great job!
I have been thinking about mving to wordpress but that would mean starting over from scratch!

Yes blogger is pretty cold, I would personally not opt for hosting my blog on any external site I don’t own like tumblr or WordPress.com

The best thing in my opinion is to buy a domain set up a WordPress site and start blogging! Once you have some traffic a lot in a few banner ads so it covers your yearly website costs and add some crypto earning and affiliate links in your posts and you good to go! Check out my previous post how to earn crypto with Wordpress to give you a better idea

I’ve been blogging since 2016 and last year Jan 2018 my site had 3000 visits, this year Jan it had 60 000 visits

Who knows where it could be by Jan 2020 I’ll keep pushing, blogging and see
