Review of Bánh Cuốn Bà Hoành in Hanoi

Bánh cuốn is simple. It's basically a rice roll filled with pork and wood ear mushrooms topped with cilantro and fried shallots. You also get some sort of pork broth to dip it into. That's the typical version you find in Hanoi.

Bánh Cuốn Bà Hoành does something a little different. They make the Thần Trí version which some say is the original version. Thanh Thần Trí bánh cuốn are plain rice rolls topped with cilantro that you dip in a sweet broth that contains pork cake and fried shallots. All the elements are there, but in a different form.

The bánh cuốn here are very tasty once you put all the elements together. This bánh cuốn is among the best I've had in Hanoi. It's real easy to eat two or three orders because the rice rolls are so delicate.
