Chilled pandan leaf herbal tea is a refreshing drink on a hot and humid day. To me the taste is nutty and floral with the suggestion of coconut in the background. This herbal tea is a real thirst quencher.
Pandan leave tea is said to reduce anxiety, pain, blood pressure, fever and GI discomfort. Source The health benefits are great, but I find that I drink it because it offers a satisfying relief to the sweltering afternoon heat in Bangkok.
This tea is simple to make. I start by cutting four leaves off of the pandan plant for each cup of tea. We have a few pandan plants in the garden. They are as easy to grow as a weed!
Next wash off the leaves under running water.
Finally crumple up the leaves to release the nature oils inside and stuff them into a glass. Pour boiling water into the glass and let the tea steep for five minutes. Then put it into the fridge to chill. If you want the tea to have a green color you will have to boil the leaves for at least 10 minutes. Because the leaves are so big and beautiful, I just leave them in the glass while I drink the tea.

It is so good indeed. been a while since I made some. thanks for reminding me ;)
Your welcome. I sometimes add some lemongrass to the tea as well. Makes for a nice taste. If I am serving it to guests I'll also boil it for a long time to get the color into the tea.
Thanks for the tips. Much appreciated! We have so much lemongrass in the garden so always on the look for recipes to use it more often. tea is always a good one.
I’m growing pandan leave in Thailand and I brought to Japan too. It’s good ingredient for making sweets or drinking with tea.😊
Thank you for sharing ^^
I also enjoy pandan in desserts. It has such a unique flavor and tastes so good with coconut!

Awww, original work!!! You cut the pandan with your hand! ;)
Yes, Making this tea took all of my skills! Haha
I never heard about these leaves but seems interesting.
Hi @chetanpadliya Thanks for visiting my site! If they do not grow where you live then you can get them dried.
I have never heard of chilling the leaves and having tea, i thought they always need to be boiled. Do they really work as per the properties?
They look like aloevera leaves
Hi Nainaz, The leaves are boiled first. Then I chill them because I like the tea cold. I mainly drink the tea for the taste. And sometimes I add lemongrass to the tea too. I would say in my experience the tea does have a calming effect. I am not sure about the other health claims. I just came across them in my research for the article. They do look like aloe vera but they are very thin. Thanks for your comment!
