Learning about the Steemian ecosystem, and powering up
I’m trying to read as much as I can about Steem, and I have to say It’s not as easy as I expected it to be. That being said, it seems that Steemians do a pretty good job explaining how this is all supposed to work, and I’ve found more than one person willing to explain this to me.
As it turns out, we all start with a (25) Reputation Score, but it can quickly go up as long as we are interacting positively with other Steemians who in turn upvote the content and comments I make. This make perfect sense to me, and it's nothing short of a genius, it truly creates a sense of social worth, and of course defines incentives for positive behavior.
I found a very interesting interview by @davidpakman with witness @lukestokes. Even though I must admit that some concepts are a bit above my current understanding of the Steemian ecosystem, I found the conversation to be very insightful and valuable. I won’t attempt to explain the points they brought up, the concerns expressed and ideas proposed, I’m sure there are many more people on this platform that can do a better job than me making a case of both sides of their argument on SBD valuation, but... I digress.
What I do walk away with is that the complexity of Steem, at least in my opinion, is also what gives it its strength. I decided today to buy some more of this intangible token, add a little more to my wallet and Power Up as they say around these parts. It seems to me, an inexperienced Steemian not only a smart way to hedge my growing crypto holdings, but also the best way I can contribute to the community.
All this writing to simply say, I intend to make it a habit to Power up every single week.
Cheers my friends
Ps.- special thanks to @meno for helping me surf the currents, I’m sure the ideas we are coming up with are going to make some big ripples in the water.
My pleasure my friend... this is going to be a special year for the both of us.
Nobody has ever made me think that a high SBD is good, do you have any idea why people want a high sbd?
Cool to read this post. Seems like you're doing very very well now so reading a post like this when you were just getting started is a very interesting read!
