An absolute proof of God

What would make all religions shake hands with science? What would turn science to philosophy? What would make us, the conscious beings on this planet, see clearly in front of us the wall of our limits; the wall that we push further and further by our scientific achievements? We are bragging on what we have done in terms of exploration of micro and macro cosmos and the other moment we feel so small in the vastness of the Universe. We ask questions and we find answers on the how and why ‘s but still we are unable to respond to the most critical questions of our existence.

The absolute proof of God itself will still not answer the question of why we are here. Why we are thinking and feeling. So, please have no great expectations of solving those big matters in the below thoughts.

The proof I refer to is obviously not a scientific one. It is fiction coming from a great mind of science. I am talking about
Carl Sagan ; astrophysicist, cosmologist and author.

In his novel Contact he refers to the message sent to us by an alien civilization. A message on how to build a transport mean to take humans to them through a wormhole. Those aliens with unbelievable advanced technological capabilities were also wondering on big questions; but they had found evidence that something bigger goes on in Universe. Their super computing capabilities have allowed them to calculate billions of billions digits of Pi (π); the number that is found embedded in many laws of physics, and finally in the structure of the universe. The number that is never ending, with an infinite number of decimal digits. At some point the «randomness» of digits is replaced by the appearance of only “1” and “0”. The aliens have managed to decipher the coding of those numbers at a certain extend and have found a message embedded in Pi (π). Who would be able to hide a message in a unique number of physical laws and mathematics, but the creator of them himself? The human protagonist of the novel manages to find the introduction of the message when she returns back on earth. The number of “1” and “0” ‘s is a product of two first numbers which when used as the two dimensions of a raster a circle made of “1”s appears within a background made of “0”s !

Who would defy such a proof of Universe being created by someone beyond its limits and out of it? By hiding the message, there was an expectancy or beforehand knowledge of that entity that intelligent beings would evolve and someday when they became good enough in mathematics and technology they would discover the message. Even if the message were a simple circle, it would be a wing to intelligent beings, “Hey, I am everywhere; in every single point of Cosmos you can find my signature, so what else do you need to know?” And then what would be the future of science? Would there be any further end to pursue, a theory to discover? Possibly not. I suppose that every science would turn to the question of “Why are we here? Is it just to discover the message or something more?”. What if such a message provided the answer even to that question? And then what would be the future of philosophy and religions?

Carl Sagan attempts to put questions on science and its limits. Some others like him live with the big questions at the back of their mind and are laughing at themselves by imagining the answers of a creator:
“You are here to praise the Lord”, or
“You are here to advance and become my army against evil”, or
“You are here to create love, feelings beyond simple consciousness, to advance my creation”,
or just
“It was just a treasure/message hunt game… and the price goes to humans, now switch can be turned off”.
