Golden Hour Photography Challenge - Week 22 | "Capture, Click, Compete!" | Pompano Beach

Many things, millions of things, happen all over the world when the sun goes down. Sometimes I spot some of them, sometimes I want to watch the Pompano sunsets, and sometimes that's when I'm busy and it's only after dark that I realize I've missed another beautiful moment. And every time is different, and every sunset is new and old and short.

At sunset, the crickets are louder. Millions of crickets sing because that's when day turns to night and together they drag us into their love affair. And the clouds burn in pink, red and orange, curiously set off to follow westward this romantic story taking shape past them.

At sunset, two people walk hand in hand in a park, on a beach, on a street in a busy city. Two people stand on a bench, on a porch, at a fountain. They know that at sunset miracles happen and they will not let go until the light separates them until the next day. During this same sunset, a child is riding a bicycle, somewhere someone is in a hurry to get to the station and go home, somewhere someone is writing stories about beautiful sunsets, somewhere someone has forgotten that there are sunsets at all.

At sunset, cities have different silhouettes, rivers darken and bridges hang over bottomless chasms and chasms. Cathedrals grow taller, street lamps stick out like matchsticks from the sidewalks. The windows of the homes begin to light up, one by one, side by side, and electricity flows through the "blood systems" of the buildings, reminding the inhabitants that the sun is setting. Some people at that time, watch the sunset on TV and forget that it is happening outside, and others are already asleep.

At sunset, the sunflowers close, the grapes look ripe even if they aren't, and the birds are long gone. Nothing ends at sunset, not the day, not the beauty, not our desire for countless sunsets. Sunsets are always different. Sunsets are always the same. There will always be sunsets if we have the eyes to notice them and admire them from afar as we are meant to.
