An experienced traveler will easily find a restaurant where they cook delicious food and they won't charge you for it, no matter where on the globe you are. He follows a few simple rules that I recommend to you as well. Avoid tourist establishments. Some of them may have very nice interiors, and the food in others may even be edible, but in general, restaurants in the tourist area are not a good idea. It is usually more expensive there, and the menu is a mix of boring European cuisine and two or three hastily prepared local specialties. Search for a full restaurant. Once you get out of the tourist trap, look around for a full restaurant. How full since it's Tuesday noon? Trust me, if the restaurant has good cuisine, you will have a hard time finding a seat even then.

Check out the menu before you sit down. Usually, the menu of each restaurant is posted by the door. Check it out before you decide whether to stay or not. Restaurants that focus mainly on their cuisine have an interesting menu or offer completely traditional dishes for the country. Usually the list of specialties is long and there is quite an impressive list of vegetarian dishes. Manjis that are made only from vegetables are more difficult and chewy to cook. Therefore, restaurants that know that the kitchen is not their strong point, prefer to serve meat - preferably grilled or with some kind of sauce.

Ask the waiter for help. After finding a good restaurant, it remains to aim for the best meal of the day. I advise you to ask the waiter for help. A big, friendly smile, two hungry eyes fixed on him and a request to offer you the tastiest local dish will do the trick. Add that you have long wanted to try dishes typical of the country because you have only heard good things. Let him recommend a drink and dessert as well. You will certainly have a delicious meal, and the service will be perfect.

Why ask the waiter for help? Because everyone will be pleased that you are looking to him for help and advice, and in a field in which he is considered an expert. And as a bonus, he will be able to enchant you with superb dishes from his own country.
On your way out, don't forget to express your admiration and thanks for the help of the waiter and the skill of the chef while trying the souffle, paella or cacho e pepe. That's more warming than a tip, blanket and rum tea combined. And it gives you bonus points for the randomness that assigns people to the good and bad restaurants and bars around the universe.

Finally, you can have a nice drink to reinforce the good experience with friends. 🙂
