Tips to deal with stress

Hello all, now as an 18 year old girl taking her A level exams, the past few weeks have been a bit stressful for me. Now exams aren't the only stressful things in life. Stress comes in all shapes and forms and everyone's stress is different and individual. Nonetheless, I've come up with a list of ways that will help YOU deal with your stress. Obviously they are not going to make the stress disappear completely, but hopefully they'll enable you to enjoy life a bit more and feel a bit better about yourself.

  • Be healthy: This includes eating healthy foods as well as not skipping meals. You could also exercise or get some fresh air. All of these things combined allows the body to cope with stress better.

  • Don't drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes: These things will temporarily relieve your stress but they won't work in the long term. As well as this they obviously aren't good for your body!

  • Make sure you give yourself time to relax: Nobody can work constantly. Whatever it is you're doing, make sure you give yourself regular breaks. Watch a little TV or catch up with some friends. It won't hurt.

  • Get a good night's sleep: If you don't get enough sleep, your brain won't be as alert as it would have been. You'll get things done slower and therefore this will increase your stress. As well as this, you'll constantly be yawning and will feel tired, which we all know isn't pleasant.

  • Reduce the amount of sugar you're consuming: As well as it being unhealthy for you, reducing your sugar intake will decrease your stress levels and overall make you happier.
