Despicable Me 3 Review

in #movies9 years ago

Hello all, so today I went to see Despicable Me 3 at the cinema with a close friend of mine. I have to admit that we were probably the eldest people viewing the screening - the average age of the cinema goers was probably about 10 and under. (We're big kids at heart!) Nether the less, it didn't stop us from enjoying this thoroughly hilarious film.

Of-course this applies to the previous films, but I thought I had to mention the star cast who voice the main characters. Obviously comedian Steve Carell does as brilliant job of playing Gru, the super villain turned dad of three. His iconic Gru accent which sounds vaguely Russian just brings the whole film together. As expected with Despicable Me, there are many laugh out moments and the animation is better than ever. I just adore the youngest daughter Elsie and her love of unicorns, although I did find it odd that she hasn't grown or changed one bit since the first movie. I liked the new addition of Gru's twin Drew, who seemed absolutely useless and helpless when joining forces with Gru to steal back the world's largest diamond! I have to say that twins really are popular at the moment - after the Pretty Little Liars finale. (I'll say no more if you haven't already seen it!)

I found the new villain, Bratt a little bit cliche, as well as the voice actor portraying this role possibly not being quite as strong as Steve Carell or Kristen Wiig. But I guess you can't really expect anyone to compete with comedy genius's such as themselves. I still enjoyed watching his over the top, louder than life character come to life on the big screen however.
On the whole however I really enjoyed this film and would probably rate it a 7 out of 10. I'm definitely looking forward to a Despicable Me 4... which fingers crossed will be made in the future. The Despicable Me series is definitely my favorite series of animated movies, topping the likes of Shrek and Frozen! (But that's just my opinion.)

Im excited to see this one, i was surprised at how good the first two parts were....still waiting on the next toy story as well

I know, they are so easy and fun to watch!

Literally just back from the cinema after watching it.

Went with my five year old, his eleven year old cousin and my wife.

I thought that it was good, maybe just a bit meh... My five year old loved it, this morning he had to choose all minion clothes - t-shirt, shorts, socks even his wee boxer shorts! This was the highlight of his year :-)

aw wow, I'm glad he enjoyed it. I guess it is more of a kids film than an adults film!

Not my kind of movie but you did write a good review. Actually, I don't watch very many movies any more, guess I am getting old, LOL.

Really, oh wow I watch so many movies... I am a film studies student after all. xD

I think it comes with getting older Charlie. A person just feels like they have so many other things they want to do before they can no longer do them. When I was younger I watched more movies. It seems the older I get the more my perspective on life changes. Stay young for as long as you can, LOL.
