The abandoned military base

The village of Vintay is almost in the middle between Samara and Togliatti. In this village there is nothing interesting, there are no sights and entertainments. There is a mothballed factory, once a secret, as well as an abandoned military unit.

During its existence, the military unit was numbered 61755. It was abandoned by the military in 2010-2011. It was at this time in the army that reforms were carried out, as a result of which a whole series of units was united. Many were disbanded. In the village of Vintay the battalion of armored vehicles No. 61755 was based, there was an Evacuation Battalion and a Strategic Missile Battalion. The part occupies a large territory with a greenhouse, a culture house, an underground storage for food, a canteen, an officer's and a general bathhouse. There is an underground command post and a communications tower.

Also on the territory there are three five-story buildings - former barracks. In two of them live people - retired military with families. The third house is abandoned.

There is an assumption that the task of the unit included the protection of the Vintay Machine-Building Plant. VMZ is a regime facility where assembling and dismantling of engines for launch vehicles was carried out.
