Monument to the Giant Mollusk

in #photography5 years ago

Samara, a pedestrian alley opposite Zagorodny park. Here in 2016, an original sculpture, a masterpiece of landscape design, which depicts the shell of ammonite, a cephalopod mollusk, extinct 65 million years ago, appeared.

The diameter of the largest ammonite shells is close to two meters, for some species the size of the shell was 50-60 cm. The name ammonite was derived from the shape of the shell, as if twisted into a ram's horn. It was these horns worn by the mythical Ammon, the ancient Egyptian god, the patron of Thebes.

Я когда её первый раз увидел, подумал - памятник собачьим экскрементам...

Насмешил)))
