Durian Season in Cambodia
Durian season in Cambodia usually occurs from mid-May to July, so don't miss an opportunity to try this astonishing tropical fruit. A few people love it while others say it's disgusting. The main reason for such opposite opinions is renowned surprising smell of the fruit. Durian is generally grown as an inter-crop with other fruit trees and its production is mostly for domestic consumption.
Kampot province in Cambodia is very famous for durian farms and local fruits are known to be among the world's best. Durian fans will discover ice-cream with durian, sticky rice with durian and coconut milk and even durian chips. No surprise that the Kampot city is marked by a tremendous durian statue. Durians are costly in Cambodia around $5 price a kilogram. Some provinces in Cambodia that are famous with durian are Kampong Cham and Pailin.
