My School Bags are too heavy, please hear our voice

First of all thank you for visiting my blog. It is a great pleasure to know that there are people out there that is willing to read it eventhough I am a bit poor in English.

Anyway, today I would like to highlight and plea to the Malaysian Educational Board about the numbers of text book that is required to be brought to school. For your guys info, I'm still a secondary 1 student, and yes on behalf of all the students in Sabah and Malaysia, I think I have the right to voice out my discontent.

Everyday, my father sent me to school around 8.30am (sometimes before 7.00am) eventhough my classes only starts at 12.30pm, and only finishes at 5.50pm. I usually reach home around 6.30pm, luckily its not that far from school. We have to come early as we are required to join the co-curriculum activities in the morning, before our normal classes. Its quite tiring actually, we were so tired sometimes that it makes us sleepy and we were unable to focus during class. Especially if the co-curriculum involves physical activities.

Another thing that made me so unhappy is, the number of books, text books, exercise books and whatever books they called it, it is just too many and too heavy to be carried around. With the help of my mum, I tried to weigh the weight of my bag everyday from Monday to Friday. My mum was surprised as the average weight of the bag is within 12 to 13 Kg. For you guys further info, that is the exact same weight I used to carry during my primary school. I was privileged enough that my dad sent me to school by car, up to the school's gate, but some of my poor friends has to walk by foot to school. Imagine how heavy those books are at your back, once reaching the school my friend will usually collapse to the nearest chair, too tired to take another step.

Imagine this, school has only started on January, and by today, my parents already bought me 3 school bags. Why? My first 2 bags was torn apart by the weight of the books. At last my dad bought a leather bag cost around RM100, and till today, it's still ok. This happens to my other friends too. So, to counter the weight, there are times when me and our friends has to bring 2 bags to school, a backpack type and shopping bags. We separated the books into two parts, so that it won't be too heavy on the backpack.

I hope at least some official from the Ministry of Education will be able to see and read my post, and find a better solution to this problem. Since we are in the era of advance technology, isn't it better if some of the books are distributed in digital forms than paper? Our Malaysian schools needs to step into the future, instead of being stagnant and remained in the past.
