Life Lesson - The Tiger and The Deer

In a jungle somewhere in Asia, lives a very terrifying tiger, he is big and ferocious. All the animal in the jungle either big or small are scared of him. Once he let out his mighty growl, all the animals will be running for their lives or hide to save themselves. Any animals that didn't manage to escape will be killed instantly and became his meal.

Inside the jungle, also lives a very smart little mouse deer. One day, while he was eating some sweet leaves, suddenly he heard the sound of broken dried twigs behind him. He turned around and saw the tiger crouching, ready to lunge at him.

The tiger growled fiercely, the mouse deer was so scared that he can't even move, so he was caught by the tiger. "You can't escape from me this time little one" said the tiger, "You will be good enough to be my snack".

The mouse deer has to think of something quick before the tiger sink his fangs into his neck. "Please don't kill me Mr. Tiger, if you do, another bigger and fiercer animal will eat you up", said the mouse deer.

"Who dares to fight against me?" asked the tiger.

"I saw another tiger this morning, he is even bigger and mightier than you", said the mouse deer.

The tiger got very angry, there can't be another tiger in this jungle but me, he thought. He growled angrily.

"Who is this other tiger? This jungle is my domain. Show me where you have found him, and I will kill him with my sharp teeth and claws", said the tiger. He let go the mouse deer. The mouse deer stutters to his feet, but the suddenly jumped up and said to the tiger, "If you wanted to see him, follow me then", then he started running, and the tiger followed. He was still fuming with anger.

The other animals saw the tiger running behind the mouse deer, but they are puzzled, why the tiger didn't attack the mouse deer? The tiger can easily catches and ripped the mouse deer apart if he wanted too, they thought, while hiding behind a few bushes.

"We have finally arrive", said the mouse deer, while standing near the edge of the lake. "This is the location where I found him", the mouse deer said, while pointing at the lake. "You better go and see him yourself as I am too scared to look at him", said the mouse deer.

The tiger became more angrier when he heard what the mouse deer have said. He then walked to the edge of the lake, he looked down and saw his own reflection on the clear crystal water of the lake. He really thought that his reflection is the other tiger that the mouse deer has mentioned. He opened his mouth and growled fiercely at his reflection, showing his sharp fangs and teeth. He became even angrier when his reflection also did the same.

"You told me that you are the strongest tiger of them all, come now, show me how tough you are fighting against that other tiger", said the mouse deer. Upon hearing what the mouse deer have said, the tiger sticks out his claw and jumped into the lake. Once he jumped, his reflection also disappeared, only then that he realized that he was been fooled by the mouse deer.

He struggled to get back up, and out of the lake, but the cliff is too high. He struggle and struggled to get over it but he kept on slipping back into the lake. At last, he became too tired to struggle anymore, and then he sinks into the lake and never came up. The arrogant tiger is now dead, killed by his own stupidity and arrogance. The mouse deer became an instant hero of the other animals, and they live happily ever after inside the jungle.

The Moral of the Story

Never underestimate your opponent, if you have a chance, finish him off without thinking twice or you will never have a second chance to do it. Never underestimate a person that looks inferior to you, he may be even smarter and can out wit you anytime.
