Life Lesson - The Arrogant Deer

Inside the jungle, there lives an arrogant deer. He loves to go to the lake before noon and looked at his reflection. Standing by the lake, he will be standing for hours and hours looking at his reflection and admiring himself, he was so proud of his beautiful antler. All the other animals also praises him as his antler is like a magnificent crown on his head. The more the other animals praises him, the more arrogant he became.

While looking and admiring his reflection he said, "I have such a beautiful antler, no one is more beautiful than I am. I'm the most beautiful animal in the jungle". However he really hate his skinny legs, "I hate these legs, look how skinny they are, I would be even more beautiful if it weren't for these ugly legs", he grunted.

One day, as usual before noon, he will be at the lake admiring his reflection and himself. Suddenly, out of nowhere, he heard barking of dogs. He was so scared, as he knows that there are hunters nearby, and if they saw him, they will surely shoot at him. He ran as fast as he could, away from the sounds of barking dogs. Unfortunately, as he raced towards the jungle, suddenly his antler got stuck into a tree branch. He struggled to get it free, but his effort is meaningless. The barking is getting louder, and the deer became more worried and anxious. With all his might, he uses his skinny but powerful legs, he wriggled and at last his antler broke but it is now unstuck from the tree branch. The dogs are getting closer, but the powerful legs of the deer allows him to run faster and enable him to escape from the clutches of the dogs and the hunters.

Since that day, the deer wasn't as arrogant anymore. He is no more beautiful because of his broken antler, but he understands now how precious his skinny legs are. He no longer hates them, but admire them more than he had admire his antler before. He now knows, being beautiful doesn't necessarily will bring us good, and things that seems useless doesn't necessarily means it is not useful. Always be thankful and proud of what we are and what we have.
