A factory portrait

in #ocd-resteem7 years ago

As I wrote some time ago, in one of my introductory posts, I work for a manufacturing company that produces metal welded pieces. From chassis to huge booms for the agricultural machines. I became deeply involved in the processes of this factory, as I am coordinating the supply chain and, since I've been here for almost nine years, I got attached by its people also.

Being an enthusiast photographer I started to take photos of the workers here, of the factory and of its processes. Industrial settings always posed a great interest for me, as I find the connection between man and machine interesting.

Welding is our primary focal point and the main added value to our portfolio.

Our welding is GMAW, Gas metal arc welding type, and more information about it, for the ones interested, can be found here.

A color version of the picture above. In fact, I'm curious which one you like more, if any?

The process is hard, the work is hard. Gases and heat are realeased in great numbers while welding.

Machining, bending, laser and tubes cutting plays a big role in our company, as all the components are prepared for the final welding. Here you can see a worker near the 200 tons bending machine, a German-grade beast.

That was it, for now. I have more of them. If you like this kind of documentary approaches, I will post some more.

Absolutely exquisite. The light, the authenticity, the sense of timelessness. Wonderful photojournalistic art!

Thank you kindly, Lisa! :x

Maan, the black and white style suit these so well! I am hard-pressed to choose a favorite because all of them are fantastic 👏 I wish I could upvote you with more than $0.70 :)

Dude, you are flattering me... Your words and presence make a lot more than a vote, man! :) Thanks a lot!

My pleasure 😊

Oh wow, such powerful photographs...remind me of old school photography. More than deserving upvote!

Hello! Thank you! Followed you and browsed to your blog. Beautiful photography!

Love this post.
I've seen a lot of these types of photo essay but rarely from someone who works in the place and presumably someone who the workers are comfortable with.
Your photos work great in B&W. They'd be good in colour.
Consistency is the key in my books.

Thank you, Andrew! Indeed, they were relatively comfortable with me, as their colleague, but no so much with me as a photographer. :)

These are so good! The black and white tones are amazing and I love the ones with the sparks flying off !

Thanks, V! Hugs! :)

Really nicely done! You have a good eye for composition, following the lines closely and positioning yourself adequatly, great job! On a side note your stories would definitely benefit from a consistent post processing style, the sepia toned pictures are a hindrance for full immersion into the story. (Of course this is subjective)
Still, really well done, you earned yourself a follower. Can't wait for more.

Hi! :) Thanks a lot for stopping by and for the support. I will definitely give sepia a chance in the future. Followed back. Cheers!

Superb photos, Catalin. Congratulations. They have a special charm of their own, showing that simple daily life of people we almost never think of from our bubbles. At least I can state that from my own bubble.

I love your visual stories. They make me more humble.

Thank you, Vlad. True, we often forget how things we take for granted are backed by complex processes and what we call simple workers.

Awesome! I especially like "the welding of a piece" picture .Being a person with a goal of being a Mechanical engineer in the future , this blog means a lot to me .Thank you!

Hi! Best of luck in your endeavors as Mechanical Engineer. It is a beautiful job, creative. Thank you for stopping by!
