Life of a School Teacher

I'm a teacher and some days the things that happen are just...odd. I will be changing names to protect the identities of the VERY innocent, but all of these things were done or said today.

"But I don't want to be president!"

I have been trying to convince this child to consider running for president for almost three months. She, of course, knows she's unqualified due to her age. She also says she's unqualified because she doesn't know "everything about the world." But, if anyone could run the world, it would be this child. I keep on telling her that, and she keeps on refusing.

Today, it was a Bad Kitty book. Apparently, Abraham Lincoln was the first US president to own a cat. There was a little picture of a cat meowing in the White House. I decided to show it to my future president as more of a laugh (it was a very stressful day). She looked at the picture, looked at me, and said quietly, "I want to build houses that don't make pollution. I don't want to be president."

So, basically, I want to be this little girl when I grow up.

Meanwhile, one of my other kids had inserted his cookie wrapper into his nose and couldn't get it out. I am that kid, even when I'm grown up.
