Note: In the next publications, we will be presenting the mission, vision, objectives and statutes that will establish the bases of @Castellano.

What is @Castellano?

@Castellano is a Witness Node for the STEEM block-chain.

Each Witness usually represents a project, in the case of @Castellano, born with the purpose of becoming the voice of the entire spanish speaker community, as well as the one for the small and medium value projects that, despite their good quality and sustainability proposals, lack of enough capital to be executed as they deserve.

In this way, @Castellano seeks to build bridges between those communities and the share holders to develop solid relationships, in which all parties will benefit.

At @Castellano we are a team of people who believe in the future of the STEEM cryptocurrency and its ability to solve real-life problems of our societies.

For this reason, we have decided to invest our time and money in building a Witness that helps to positively transform the reality of all the spanish speakers who “live” in Steemit.

Therefore, @Castellano is a "nation" under construction that seeks to be the meeting point of responsible citizens, a melting pot of ideas and the mother of future exemplary talents, focused on quality.

What is a Witness?

The Steemblock-chain is where you will find all the transactions, (our post, votes, wallet, money transfers, comments and reesteems). These transactions are stored in blocks that are generated every 3 seconds.

The Witnesses Nodes are the ones that provide the servers to support the transactions; In other words, they invest their resources to offer the machines that are responsible for generating and storing the blocks for the proper functioning of the Steem blockchain.

It is worth noting that 20 Witnesses are necessary to obtain a consensus that validates a block, but a minimum of 30 is needed for the chain to operate with full transparency and integrity.

As we mentioned above, providing the necessary infrastructure to generate a block in the Steem blockchain entails infrastructure costs and qualified technical personnel.

At this moment, many of the Witnesses do not guarantee the necessary reliability, because they lack the hardware and human capital with the knowledge required to carry out the enormous responsibility of maintaining the chain.

This is because there are currently several inactive witnesses that are not fulfilling their task of generating the blocks that correspond to them, which has left the list of operating nodes in a total of only 130 witnesses where @Castellano is currently located in position 108, (subtracting the inactive nodes), generating a block every 2.5 days, with a 100% effectiveness.

Therefore, as a witness approaches the top 20, the frequency with which he generates blocks increases. In consideration of the chain to its witnesses, each time the Witness generates a block, it is paid with 1 SP. It must be emphasized that the good reason for the absence of errors when transcribing blocks in @Castellano, is due to the excellent technical staff, which has advanced knowledge of the chain, added to its high performance server that is in a French Datacenter, which guarantees a correct operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year.
