Pie De La Cuesta
Yesterday we got away from the city and took a trip to a place just outside of Acapulco called Pie De La Cuesta known for it's long strip of sandy beach.
On the other side is a lagoon which once hosted scenes from the movie Rambo II. We stayed away from there to avoid the relentless attempts to sell boat rides. We have done it before and it's wonderful.
This day we wanted to enjoy the quiet of the area, aside from the sound of crashing waves. That doesn't count for noise in my opinion.
Most people relax under their cabanas enjoying cold drinks and local Mexican food from the restaurants behind or just swinging peacefully on a hammock.
The dogs drift in and out of sleep as they laze under cabanas on the sand.
The beach is very well known for it's deadly undertow which has no mercy for anyone who dares to challenge it however most people just frolic close to the shore.
I warned Marc and reminded him that he should not underestimate the fury of these undertows but he is very confident as a swimmer, which I am not.
He went in, and as I watched on pins and needles, he was towed out farther and farther.
After quite a struggle he managed to fight his way back to shore where he would hear "I tried to tell you" over and over. He didn't argue.
The buses stop running shortly after the sun disappears, so people take advantage to catch every drop of it's golden red light in the sky .
One of the greatest moments of the evening is the dance of the dogs joyously playing near the shore after a good rest.
