Oh autumn, I hardly knew thee

in #photography5 years ago

We had a couple glorious weeks of fall color but a severe cold snap and high winds took the leaves off quickly in mid-October. We have had beautiful warm(ish) weather for weeks now after that, but the trees are bare. Enjoy a cell phone pictorial of the Utah autumn that briefly was :)

At the end of September

the leaves were only just beginning to change down near the valley floor. You can see only a couple trees on the flank of Grindstone Ridge just above Mapleton had turned by Saturday, Sept. 29:

By the first weekend of October

the entire flank of Maple Mountain was flame red.

The view from our back yard

By mid-October

there were as many leaves on the ground as on the trees.

By the next weekend

the snow was halfway down the mountains and the last leaves were falling.

Snow halfway down Maple Mountain on Sat. Oct. 19. My wife said, "Pity the powerlines are in the way, this would be a great picture." I like the way the power lines and poles look, personally :)

I'm really digging the powerline pic as well!
There is something about the eye being drawn to the clouds on the mountain and having the detail of the grasses up close.
Two thumbs up.

Yeah there are a lot of pleasing shapes made by the intersecting lines, poles and hillsides. Glad you mentioned the eye being drawn to the clouds building on top of the mountain and the contrast with the detail in the foreground, I was thinking the same thing :)

beautifull clicks fellow!😍❤️

Awesome documentary of the changes in nature. Great pictures too.

Such a nice view!
