MATATU CULTURE
Matatus are minibuses, which have graffiti style, very flashy lights and very loud music. They make Nairobi unique.
These is what we use for everyday transport. The first thing you will notice once you board the matatu,is the interior. It's like a moving museum, vibrant colours, led lights, how the seats are designed, large flat screen monitors and the loud music. Some matatus even have screens on the back of every seat and others outside the vehicle.
Each matatu ply their own routes and they have a number on windscreen written so as to know where they head.Different matatus charge differently depending on the distance of the area. There is a driver and a conductor who collects money and when you need assistance to alight at your destination which we call a stage,he or she will signal the driver to stop.
They are so colorful, I want to jump on one of those right now! Keep showing us your city!
