Rijeka

Rijeka is the city in the West of Croatia, biggest port in the Kvarner bay. It is near Slovenia, Italy & Istria & very well connected with Zagreb, the capital of Croatia & Hungary further in the North. In some period of history it was also the main Hungarian port. It has a very unique history. In the time of rule of the governor Gabriele D'Annunzio, he self-proclaimed it a fascist state & it was the 1st fascist state in the world. It has also, later on, the social-communist history & living today in the so-called democracy. It is also one of the most cosmopolitan city in Croatia where many different nations found their home & now living in peace with each other. In the year 2020 Rijeka was also given the title of European Capital Of Culture which really improved the art infrastructure, opened new museum, galleries & working possibilities. It is also the place where they told me I was born. I don't remember that but let's say that I believe them. Rijeka society / community had a big influence on me growing up.

The following shot I made from a high floor balcony where I was shooting the dishes for Sabay Thai restaurant what I was mentioning already in few food photography posts that I made here on my blog. I am posting both color & b'n'w versions of the shot:

The color version shows how Rijeka actually looks on the sunny day in the early autumn.

But I prefer the b'n'w technique in general cause it creates a special retro arty ambience to the photo.
