When Lydians invented "money", there were already trading with each other. But how is it possible they could trade without currency? Most of the people would say they were just exchanging their items and living like that. But this cliche is so wrong. Because before Lydians we know different civilizations used some kind of valuable stones as well as Obsidian which is kind of a volcanic glass, gold, tin, copper, and silver. So why we always say Lydians were the people who invented "money"? The explanation is actually really easy, I can clearly say that what Lydians found out was not "money", it was currency. You would say, come on they are same things. For instance before Lydians, if you have 1 gram gold, you could have 1 bow. And this gold was something valuable and something concrete. But with the Lydians, something worthless started to be valuable. We may say they used iron and cheap silver and wrote a numerical system on them. According to these numbers, they could have more items or food. For one cheap silver people started to give a lot of food to each other. Because it was written on this silver "1000 Lydian coin".

End Of The New Age

When computers were developed in 2000's, banknotes knew that their life is coming to the end. As the internet technology is developed, the world started to integrate with the digital world. People just started to pay their bills online, and it was better than wait for lines in banks. People started to not seeing money as banknotes. They work, end of the month it appeared some numbers on the internet bank accounts and they spend this money on cards. They don't even touch money anymore.

As I mentioned before, people don't even touch money anymore. Even they don't touch money anymore, they have debts. Debts to someone or a system that they don't even know.
