My experience at Onitsha
hello steemians
my blog has been hasnt been busy for some days now
i went to Onitsha (the busiest city in eastern Nigeria), phew...!
so firstly i never believed that Onitsha was a busy city not until i visited it for the first time
the experience was somehow funny tho and annoying, i left port harcourt with my cousin ( @izuchukwu ) by 7:30am by bus to Onitsha direct and our bus arrived Onitsha at exactly 10:30am (was indeed a far journey)
my first probe started on the bus, i was sitting at an uncomfortable position just near the driver and is was hell for me being 7ft tall my legs could barely move in the tight coner near the acceleration and brake.
the driver nearly fought with me cause my leg wasnt giving him enough space to move his leg from acceleration to brake.
at 10:30am when we arrived the area was indeed boiling with everything you can think of, from the go slow traffic to the annoying hawckers to the reckless truck drivers.. phew.....!
we had to get down from the bus in the middle of the traffic cause we werent sure if the traffic would be free for the next 7hrs (lols)
on getting down everywhere was filled with all kinds of business especially cloth sealers and noticed something funny, all cloth sealers and boutiques shops were filled with a particular brand of cloth.
GUCCI
seriously i dont know what the owners of that company did but the product is seriously dominating throughout the east and other parts of the country, well thats for that, back to my journey....
The first and funniest experience at Onitsha just happened as we wanted to board a motorcycle (aka OKADA as it is popularly called here), the okada man told us that the distance we are going is #700 (thats 2.5steem i think) and my cousin said lets try a cab for comfortability if it is #700 and low and behold the cab man told us the price was #100 (0.35steem) , wow! i burst into laughter, i just said to my cousin that some people are heartless.
we arrived at my cousins workshop were we got directions to the popular Onitsha main market, mehn.......! the main market was another thing, never believe i can see some one thats sells all product at once but i saw one at Onitsha main market.. (lols)
The most annoying parts were the young boys that dont own a shop at the market but they would keep tackling you asking what you want to buy (haha) i felt like slapping one tho.
well i just kept my chill cause i was already lost, was just praying if my cousin still has all the directions in his head and luckily for us he did... :-)
And strolling for 2hrs we couldnt find what to buy (lols) we decided to spend a night at Onitsha so tomorrow (which is today) we would continue.
coming back to the workkshop was stressful, the bus driver dropped us at a very far place and told us if we just make a bend we would see our destination but after the buy, lols our destination was just like a flying airplane view (so tiny) we trekked for about 45mins thanks to the Onitsha bus driver.
We angrily trekked it and look in our face wasnt a good at all, we arrived at the workshop and spent time watching the workers remodeling a lexus jeep.
thank God they closed early and we went home, the first thing my hand went to was the PS4 i saw lying on the floor, with no hesitation i just grabbed a pad and so lucky for us it was loaded with more than enough games which we played till 12am, forgetting to eat and we slept on empty stomachs.
we woke up this morning by 7:00am had our breakfast and changed our mind on visiting the main market, picked up my pre ordered laptop at a hp office and we left Onitsha.
although we stopped at Owerri to buy the things we couldnt see at Onitsha.
phew..........!
thanking God for journey mercies
