THE STORY OF MY NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE
Pls permit me to make use of images I downloaded from pixabay to make the story more interesting because I was unable to snap pictures when this happened to me.
I woke up one early Monday morning and as usual I prayed to God for the gift of life. I love appreciating God everyday and everytime because
When praises goes up, blessings and anointing comes down.
I believe in one principle; and that is immediately I wake up in the morning, the first thing to do is to thank God for the gift of life, my God must be the first person I must speak to even before I go to my parents to greet them. So after singing praises, I read my Bible and prayed to God. I then swept the house, washed the dirty dishes, took my bath and set out for the day's work in school.
I had to walk for about 500 meters from our house before getting to the main road. That fateful day, I inserted my hands-free into my ears and was listening to gospel music on my phone while typing at the same time; chatting with friends on whatsapp.
When I got to the main road, I did not realise, and so I kept walking smiling at my phone while chatting with my friends. I was so engrossed in the chat that I did not realize a car; Toyota Camry Limited Edition was very close to me, how unfortunate this was for me as the driver of the car was also looking at a fair in complexion and beautiful lady (according to eye witnesses) and within seconds of trying to cross the busy road, I got knocked down by this car. Luckily for me, he was not the hit and run type, out of concern for me, he hopped out of his car unstrapping his seat belt and charged towards me. I was unable to see clearly, but I was hearing voices, how people were shouting and calling for help.
The country I live is not a country where you get to call 911 or any other line for any case of emergency, whenever accidents like this happen, the best thing is to look for means of getting the accident victims to an hospital. I could hear a woman shouting "there is an hospital nearby, let us take him there". Then some people lifted me and took me to the man's car and put me at the back seat. The man who ran me down sat down quickly in his car and put the car in ignition and zoomed off. I heard someone said to him to use his seat belt (he must have forgotten while he was in a haste to save me from death as I was gasping for breath).
I cannot say how long it took us to get to the hospital, all I knew was that we got to an hospital which was substandard (because of what later happened) and I was rushed in as those who carried me were shouting emergency not minding the fact that they needed to be silent and quiet in an hospital. I was dropped on a sick bed and a doctor came in and did some things I do not even know. I think he injected me with something to charge me and my heart started beating fast. I was able to open my eyes and saw myself in the midst of nurses and doctors though I was still not seeing clearly but I saw them in whites as if I was in the midst of angels in heaven.
The doctor asked me if I have eaten that morning and I told him I have not, so he told a nurse to get me a warm tea with a lot of granulated milk with sugar so that I could gain a little strength and also for the injection to properly work in my body system. She came in five minutes later and gave me a mug with the tea just as the doctor had described for her, I took the tea and was unable to consume it cos I was not even feeling like tasting anything. But due to the encouragement from the nurse who urged me to take it cos I will need it for my medicines; I tool a little and she gave me the drugs to use.
I do not know how the information got to my parents at home, all I knew was that I saw them in the hospital waiting outside the room I was admitted looking at me with a "worried face". After the nurse was done with me, my parents were allowed to enter the room and came to me, my mum was feeling my pulse over and over again while my dad was busy calling my brothers and sisters not to worry about coming to the hospital cos I was getting better.
This news of me getting better got to the hearing of the Toyota Camry car owner and he came in to check on me and said he is sorry for what had happened and that he will have to take his leave because he was already late for an important stakeholders meeting in a private firm. He promised that when he is done with the meeting, he will come back to check on me.
Yeah, the good news was that I was getting better according to the nurse, but I was not getting better at all. The environment became noisy again and the happy mood changed when I started vomiting blood, my dad shouted doctor!!!!!!! while my mum shouted nurse!!!!!!!. A doctor rushed in with two nurses and started performing some tests on me, at the end of everything, the doctor told my parents they will have to move me to another hospital which is of a better standard compared to theirs because I was having an internal bleeding and I will need to be operated on. The necessary equipments for this are what they do not have though the doctor said he has the technical experience, but there is nothing he can do without the availability of the necessary tools.
My dad wasted no time in carrying me up from the bed and took me out of the hospital and called a cab man to pick us up and take us to another hospital, this time around my mum had already started calling my brothers and sisters to start coming to the hospital. My dad was not happy with this decision she made because my siblings will have to start rushing down and something bad might also happen to them while coming on their way.
Both parents started arguing while the cab man was driving so fast. It got a stage that the cab man couldn't bear the noise in the car and shouted on my parents who calmed down, he told them to stop arguing and think of how I will get better either by praying to God as a Christian or pray to Allah if they are Muslims. Then my parents began praying; my mum brought out her Rosary and kept praying till we got to the hospital. It was indeed a long distance though I was unable to calculate the time we spent on the road.
The cab man parked and helped my dad to carry me out of the car while my mum dashed into the hospital screaming on top of her voice EMERGENCY. Some nurses came out with a stretcher and I was laid on it and pushed into the hospital. Though I was still vomiting blood, I was totally aware of all that was happening. I was carried from the stretcher and got laid on a bed while a doctor came in to check on me.
After examining me, he asked my parents what happened to me and they told him I got involved in a car accident while going to school. Then he told my parents that I will need to be operated on because I was having an internal bleeding. He requested for a paper from a nurse and wrote on it and gave it to my parents to get what is on the list. He also told a nurse to get him an operation form for my parents to fill and submit to confirm they consented to the operation which is to be carried out.
I could see my dad's hands shaking and my mum crying maybe when they saw in the form that
the signature means consenting to whatever the outcome of the operation might be.
They were both scared but in order for me to be in an healthy condition, my dad signed forming he is strong as a man and told the doctor to continue with the operation while he went out to get the items on the list that the doctor gave him.
I was taken to the surgery room on a stretcher and taken from the stretcher to the bed in the surgery room, the doctors and nurses got ready for the surgery. At first the light was put on, the doctors wore their attires and out on gloves, they sterilized the equipments and got everything set for the surgery.
When I saw a doctor with a tool which looked like a scissors in his hands, I started shivering and started crying because I have phobia for sharp objects and I also got scared not knowing what will happen to me.
The doctor who led the surgery told me not to be scared that everything will be alright at the end of the operation and that I will walk on my two legs out of the hospital myself. He then gave me an injection so that I would not feel any pain while the surgery was going on then he covered his nose and mouth with a nose guard.
I noticed and observed carefully how he opened my stomach with the sharp tool and at the inception of seeing my intestines, I closed my eyes and could not bear it again, I couldn't watch being dissected like a lab rat while still alive. The surgery continued with the doctor speaking in medial terms to the others and they were responding and exchanging equipments.
By the time the operation came to an end, I was not awake but sleeping. When I woke up, I discovered I was not in the operation room again but was in the room I was admitted before I was moved to the surgery with my family there with me. I opened my eyes and saw my mum, my dad, my brothers and sisters. I sensed the relieve in them and they were happy that I was perfectly fine and okay.
Then my younger sister said she is sorry for not telling me to pray over this issue cos she once dreamt about me having an accident. I smiled and told her not to worry cos I was better and feeling stronger than before.
The doctor who led the operation came in and my parents thanked him, he then explained how lucky I was to have escaped death. He said if only the operation had been delayed either because I was not brought to the hospital on time, I would have lost my life. He then smiled at me and told me to keep it up cos I am a fighter who struggled with death. He told me to avoid any strenuous work and to ensure I rest a lot.
