Hackers can now mine cryptocurrency on your PC, warns Kaspersky

"Kaspersky Lab has discovered two groups of hackers working in Russia, which have control of 5,000 and 4,000 computers. When installed on a victim’s computer, the malware starts using its hardware like graphic cards to create digital tokens. Heh, not exactly new news. Crypto mining on hacked computers has been going on for absolutely years (2010 at least), however it makes excellent PR material for AV/security vendors to push out a "we discovered another cryptominer malware" every time cryptos are in the news :)

well, thats really wrong. Is there any way to stop it ? apart from just installing buggy antivirus softwares

Wouldn't be surprised if half of our IoT devices were also being used (smart devices)- although you would need an astronomical amount to turn a profit (but it takes no effort to hack into them as they are almost always set to default passwords)
