What is the minimum steem power needed to make an effective vote?

in Ask Steem Anything3 years ago

I have about 60 steem power but even at 100%, upvoting someone with $0.0 does not make any difference. Yet I do observe changes on posts with higher $.

Is it by setting or there is a required minimum steem power I have not obtained yet?

@calybos,

I think at the current Steem price about 600 SP gives about $0.01 for each vote. That means 10 votes of yours (60SP x 10)) would amount to about $0.01 at current Steem price.

You should be able to vote 12 to 13 votes a day at 100%. In a year you are wasting more than $4 on a compounding basis, assuming the price of Steem remains the same.

I know of some people with less than 20SP accumulating more than 1000 SP within a year simply by posting quality articles, upvoting and powering-up all in a single community. They form a clique among the community members and upvote each other. With increasing SP in everyone's wallet everyone in the community benefits. This community has become very jealous of their achievements and do not support newcomers with small SPs anymore even if you post quality content.

Voting is not just about making a difference in rewards. It is also about activity on your part. In deciding your and the recipient's reputation, I believe, your voting activity is also taken into account. Perhaps the whitepaper or a witness can throw some light on this.

I think at the current Steem price about 600 SP gives about $0.01. That means 10 votes of your would amount to about $0.01 at current Steem price.

Hi @voice.direct

Do you mean ten votes of $0.01 may give $0.1??

@whyaskwhy,

@calybos has about 60SP. Ten votes of his (60SP x 10 = 600SP) would give about the same amount as one vote with 600SP, which is $0.01.

Noted . I appreciate you!!

Thanks for the explanation. I've a target to reach
