Why do not people before laugh when they take pictures?

These days I was talking to my grandmother normally as I do when I visit her every day, she is an 85-year-old lady who sadly does not walk and we look at the photos she had saved was something spontaneous that was given, where I see those black and white photos with all those people who are relatives of old generations who are no longer there and I ask myself a question that many people have thought of.

Why did not people before taking a picture laugh?.

I ask her where she is only looking at me and she answers that they mainly did it in a rigid way and in a comfortable position to be able to take the pictures since they had to stay a series of seconds or moments to be able to have the picture taken..

Also, there was not a natural smile since it was something very absurd and inexplicable for then, for what I mean as a person I like to analyze and think things, so I think that back then there was not that freedom and the necessary technology to be able to take the pictures as it should be today and in that not so distant past they obtained the photographs by hand drawings or by these photographs as my grandmother says in staying a long time to be able to reveal the photo..

Now I get a new question to know that these pictures were taken like this by the waiting time they had to stay, but why do those faces look ridiculous today?.

This if I would like to be clear about this, we know that technology continues to advance where we are in an era of everything growing exponentially without realizing new theories and new contributions to the world but in my personal way; One in the photographs should be like these old people and how? Very simple to the natural without altering the photos with filters that are not necessary since they are unique and invaluable moments captured in an image where it will last for many years and when you see it you will feel many mixed emotions just by seeing these images of moments or memories that happen in the mind as if it had happened days ago, and remembering the phrases of my grandmother of which it is better to remember the things of as in fact it happened as it was the situation posed..

It is nothing against the style of taking photographs today and the way things are used to alter them and this is just my way of thinking, everyone with their tastes. Personally I take selfies, or photos but not the souls only for sale very opaque or very clear..
