Nature Heals: My Visit to a Farm

in #travel9 years ago (edited)

A few weeks ago, my family and I visited a farm to pick some fruits and vegetables and wander around in what little nature is available to us in Los Angeles. I would have posted about it sooner, but haven't been feeling inspired to do so until now.

We visited Underwood Family Farms. I'll leave their contact info at the bottom of this post in case anyone in the area wants to visit them, too.

We arrived at the end of strawberry season on August 13th, so most of them were already picked and the plants were starting to die. However, strawberries were the main reason we were there, so we looked closely for some and were rewarded with about 4 lbs of berries in the end.

Most of the strawberries were smaller than you would find in the store, but they were also much more delicious. They were delightfully sweet. I wish we could have found more.

@alex-icey had a great time picking strawberries...

The farm has a beautiful panoramic view of the San Gabriel Mountains in the distance. The picture you see below is where we picked jalapeño peppers.

Imperfect jalapeños that you would never find in the store are the best. @alex-icey picked all of these.

We also found a nice red pepper.

The farm was huge...

There was an area at the front with carnival games, a petting zoo with horses and an area for chickens to roam.

Looking back, it was a nice relaxing day being with nature. In fact, nature is exactly what I need for this upcoming weekend. I'm looking forward to setting aside some time where I don't care what time it is and don't feel rushed. The weekend can't come soon enough.

I hope you enjoyed the photos of the farm. Have a nice day. :)

You must have felt refreshed cali-girl. Hope it gave you some peace!

They have some fall vegetables now, so maybe time for another visit.

These are some incredible pictures! Very nice! Keep up the good work!

Oh thank you!

I keep voting and commenting here and posting -- but they all keep getting dumped / not registered, it is frustrating for me. Off topic.

I've had that problem today too... I thought maybe it was the horrible internet at my office, but maybe not.

They made changes on the site again today....

I saw the upgrades too, like they changed the Submit button to a Post button.

Really?

and a couple font changes.

There are a lot of things here other than those needing work, but this way someone visually can easily see and say something has been done.

This pattern repeats....

They have to pretty it up for the masses.

Like my Liberty / main stream media posts I have been doing for a week , pretty it up for the masses alright......

It took me 3 tries to vote for this post and it just kept spinning and not logging the comment or the vote, it has been like this the last 2 days.

-- anyways, you know I am happy when people are offline and outside, you have read some of my stuff.

Great post from you on lots of angles.

Thanks, Barry. I plan to get outside lots more. :)

I am super glad to hear this.

#DigitalDetox series, right???

lol

Yep. I changed one of my tags.
