My Upvote's Now Worth a Penny!

in #steem7 years ago

Woah!

I'm super stoked I can finally share the love around!!

Now my question for the big Steemers:

Do I lose anything when I upvote someone? Like, do I lose a penny? I don't mind that, I'm just curious.

Thank you for your input!

If anyone replies can you also let me know ! Thanks

No. you don't lose anything monetarily for giving you upvote. What you lose is Voting Power. the best representation of this is probably to point you to steemnow.com. Put your username in the settings in the top left, and it will tell you what percentage of Voting Power you have left.

The system is created to allow you 20 "Full Power Votes" a day. Each vote costs 2% of your voting power. The lower your voting power, the lower your upvote is worth. So if it is worth a penny at 100% it is worth less than a penny at 90%, and even less at 80%. You CAN keep voting and go lower, but when you are a new account, your upvote is considered "dust" so save it when you can. Use comments instead.

Some people take pride in having their voting power down at like 35%, they just like to vote a lot, and that is fine. Personally, I prefer to conserve where I can.

But the short answer again, does voting cost you a penny, no it doesn't. In fact, it can gain you pennies in 7 days when curatio rewards are put out for the posts you vote on.

Hope that helps!
