Should All Opinions Be Regarded as Equal?
I think we have a large problem when in comes to progress in today's day in age and it comes from wanting everyone to be equal. I strongly believe that everyone should have equal opportunities, but in terms of whether or not people are equal I think its just inherently not true. I am trying not to be offensive to anyone but I can even use myself as an example. The truth is I am not equal to someone like Bill Gates when it comes to many things in life. He has more experience and a much more informed opinion than me when it comes to different things.

We are both human beings but his success in the computer industry dwarfs anything I have done there. So should my opinion be weighted the same as his when we talk about the future of computers? Probably not. In the same way, my opinion on the state of steemit is probably more relevant than his. When you break things down in our society we see that these comparisons happen a lot, but people are often compared to eachother when they really shouldnt be. Im not saying you cant have an opinion by all means you should on many things but when they bring two people on TV to debate something like astrophysics, perhaps putting someone with a PHD in astrophysics together with someone who believes the earth is flat, is just a waste of everyone's time.
There are many things in life where people who are unqualified to give informed opinions are put in a position to do so. This is the reason why I dont believe we should be judged by a jury of our peers in major cases, but rather a group of judges like what happens in the supreme court. People who know the law in and out should be the ones to uphold whether or not you are guilt. I have a ton of other examples , one which I will probably discuss tomorrow but ill save it for that article because it opens another whole can of worms. I think part of this is we need to be reasonable with ourselves and realize that we dont know everything and maybe someone who has a lifetime of experience in a certain field is probably a better representative than us.

I dont ever believe that if someone wants to give their opinion they should be censored, but there is a time and a place for it. I believe news networks should inform the people and not indulge them for views. So bringing on John from Omaha who never finished High School and works as a janitor and asking his opinion on the economic effects of raising the minimum wage to $20, is probably a stupid idea. However if there is ever a segment on how to effectively remove stains you cant get out of your carpet, John is probably the perfect person to call.
Overall I wish people were more reasonable when it came to taking opinions at face value and realize who is giving them. People have various levels of experience and worth in certain subjects so we need to listen to what they are saying. We can still disagree with them but we need to take a step back and think maybe their opinion does have some weight to it. Like I said before, having an opinion is fine, but having an opinion that is uniformed and one that you try and push on other people is a bad idea.

How about a debate in astrophysics between a PHd-holder who believes the world is round and another PHd-holder who believes the world is flat.
All facts are equal. All opinions are not equal, unless they are equally qualified.
My point of view: life is about inequality and balance not with equality and justice!
this simply explains all you are concerned about...
What you are saying here it not controversial in any way and I would say it is the prevalent common sense.
I think your opening statement is problematic though, because you are mainly talking about expertise but you frame it in terms of "wanting everyone to be equal", which is far far too broad.
I find that conversations on equality largely deal with wealth and justice. You touch on justice, but not the primary use of equality regarding the law - that everyone should be treated equally before it.
That should mean that if you and Bill Gates are charged of murder say, that the same blind justice should be applied to you both. It is in cases like this that people may wish there to be equality because it's likely you and Mr Gates will have very different experiences of the law because of his wealth, social standing and connections, relative to yours.
Some people also don't want there to be people as rich as Bill Gates, that it is somehow an abuse in and of itself that he has been able to accumulate such wealth. That's a sliding scale too. A small amount of people think that everyone should have the same wealth, then there are far more that want there to be less of a gap, those who talk of the inequality gap.
I have to assume that you were at least skating around the topic of wealth as you chose someone so rich as your main reference point!
Agree that the real issue here is equality, but not the relationship btwn opinions and equality.
I would think John has a vested interest in the minimum wage being raised. Although he may not be able to speak to the economic effects on large scale, he can defintely speak to how it impacts people like him.
I dont think asking John for his opinion on a matter that would affect him personally is a stupid idea, but asking him to chair the Senate Economic Growth committee for Nebraska would be.
We agree.
Very good
Permission to comment, I understand what you mean. the only keywords that you can grasp are this sentence:
There are many things in life where people who are unqualified to give informed opinions are put in a position to do so.
sorry, this afternoon I taught students about philosophy, where sometimes a PHD is not necessarily what he delivered true, if he is outside the rule or field of science. so when theory is not owned we can compare it. a wise man will release what he has in accordance with the field of knowledge. Same as the above sentence. if sometimes people who do not pasntas to say please be silent, do not look for a sensation that reveals perpetual confusion. I am very interested in this post.
Thank you

I almost agree! Except jury and judges are all humans and humans make a mistakes no matter how educated they are, your emotions always get involved. Perhaps unhackable machine can make equal verdict. For example someone like me says one sentence, doesn’t matter if the sentence make sense, probably almost no one would listen to me. However, if the exact same sentence says, let’s say Bill Gates, then everyone listens. The same would be with verdict. Same crime, different verdict. Only unhackable robot or machine wouldn’t make verdicts based on emotions. There is only one fair verdict no matter if you are rich, educated, poor... and it’s God’s verdict.
You said a lot of things very well and I share thoughts with you in many. We all want our rights and we all want to be equal, but not all have the same obligations and done same amount of quality work in life. Although, knowledge plays a big role in this regard. If you ask the same question to two different people of course that you will choose the one from the person that's in the proffesion. But don't forget to respect and accept the opinion from everyone whoever they are.
As you said, if you want to be equal give arguments or proofs for your opinion.
Nice content, it'a pretty interesting and honest :)
