Visiting Crater Lake with the Nomad Man

in #nomad6 years ago (edited)

On this episode I visit Crater Lake in Oregon with my traveling buddy Jeremiah the Nomad Man (@nomadman) on the way back home to Washington.

This lake is the crater of a volcano that erupted 7700 years ago. It's nearly 2000 feet deep making it the deepest lake in the United States. Definitely an amazing view, though car camping isn't really an option in the park itself. Luckily there were plenty of places in the nearby National Forest.

In the next video we'll be visiting Mount St. Helens in Washington which erupted 2 years before and near where I was born. I'm looking forward to it!

Wow what a view. That seems messed that you can't camp on national land?

Ya, they distinguish between National Forest and National Parks. You can camp in the former but not the latter without paying to enter and in this case getting a permit.

grumble ...government... grumble

ahahah nice, I love the dog in thebackground =). $25 to get in? That's such a rip off...again further proof that we're not free . Loved your video, enjoy your stay!

Jeremiah's dogs add so much to the journey. Makes me think about getting my own one day.

It's encouraging that you see that fees to visit a a place in nature is a sign of our lack of freedom. Most people I meet still believe it is totally justified, like I once did.

Glad you enjoyed the video, Eve!
