Nature Photography: Boomslang
Boomslang (Tree Snake)
The snake is usually found in trees and shrubs, hence the name boomslang. The Afrikaans name has also been adopted as the official English name of this snake.
Boomslangs are able to open their jaws up to 170° when biting. The venom of the boomslang is primarily a hemotoxin; it disables the coagulation process and the victim may die as a result of internal and external bleeding.
This Video demonstrates the catastrophic effects of hemotoxic venom.
