I'm fond of the phrase, "Keep you eye on the prize" and often say it to myself when I notice my activities or words are not serving any real purpose. The problem often is though, what is the prize, what is the goal?
If you define your goals to be as trite as financial wealth or fame, you may just get it and then very little else. Set your goals on the real prize of righteousness and love, then you will be given everything else of importance.
