The ancient city of Datong 历史名片-大同古城

Datong, the second largest city in Shanxi Province, is one of China's nine ancient capitals and a famous historical and cultural city. It is also one of the ancient capitals that I want to see most. Datong has always been a central city in the north. It is also known as "the three generation of capitals and the two dynasties".

In the streets you can see the existing ancient buildings and ancient city walls everywhere. Today, it is rebuilt as a military city in the north.

Datong has been an important military town and strategic place since ancient times. It is an inevitable place for military strategists. There have been thousands of large and small wars. There were many famous people living here such as Tuobahong, the proud son of Xianbei (that is, Emperor Xiaowen of the Wei Dynasty), Empress Wendi of the Sui Dynasty, Du gu Shi , the hero She Taijun (the wife of famous general Yang Ye), and so on.

Datong used to be the capital before the Northern Wei Dynasty moved its capital to Luoyang. At that time, it was called Pingcheng, so the ruins of Pingcheng were all around Datong. Now the old city walls are rebuilt on the original site, and there are many arch buildings.

The investment in rebuilding the old city is huge, which has caused a lot of controversy. I hope the old city can develop better and better, and recreate the style of history.

位于山西省北部，山西第二大城市的大同，是中国九大古都之一，历史文化名城。也是我最想见到的古都之一。大同在历史上一直是北方中心城市，素有“三代京华，两朝重镇”之称。

在大同的大街小巷，处处可见现存的古建筑，古城墙。如今重新修复后的古城更是让人领略了大同昔日作为北方军事重镇的风采。

大同自古为军事重镇和战略重地，是兵家必争之地，曾发生上千次大小战事。大同历史名人有鲜卑骄子拓跋宏（即魏孝文帝），隋文帝文献皇后独孤氏、巾帼英雄佘太君（名将杨业之妻）等等。

大同以前是北魏迁都洛阳前的都城，当时叫平城，因此平城遗址遍布大同四周。现在在原址上重新修建起来古城墙，有很多的箭楼。

重新修建的古城投资巨大，曾经引起过不小的争议，但愿古城能够发展的越来越好，重塑历史的风采。
