Steemcleaners Abuse Must Stop Now!

in #abuse7 years ago

Recently, I've had the displeasure of being accused of stealing my own work. Most of the accusers, when I brought the facts forward, recanted their accusations, which I of course appreciate. However, one prominent accuser, Steemcleaners, continues to harass me with false charges.

What's worse, in order to prove to Steemcleaners that I am who I am, they are "encouraging" me to put a link back to Steemit from the sites in which I contribute professional material. This type of request is the very definition of extortion. Why should I reward Steemit with a high-quality back-link simply because they don't believe that I am who I am?

What I find most absurd about Steemcleaners is that very simple research will prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that my Steemit account is "the real deal." Let's start with my YouTube channel, of which I provide a link on my Steemit account. Many of my videos feature the Steemit logo, along with my Steemit username!

Why on earth would an identity thief make videos to benefit my own channel?

This video here is a perfect example of what I just referenced...

Second, you can look up my name and my screen handle, "Bullish Money." Guess who comes up? Surprise! It is I again! And you know what else? You can search for my Facebook, Instagram, Twitter -- yup, it's all of me, from me, by me.

Third, you can take the extreme step of contacting the institutions in question and verifying whether it is I who claims to work for them. I think this process is ludicrous because easier options exist, but they are available.

The option that is NOT available, however, is making false accusations before you have the facts.

What makes Steemcleaners particularly abusive is that they continue to make the same accusations over and over again without performing any due diligence. They then have the gall to place the burden of proof on the victim.

Needless to say, that is completely, morally outrageous. I will not succumb to this extortion. Should these accusations persist, I may explore legal options.

Sort:

"This type of request is the very definition of extortion. Why should I reward Steemit with a high-quality back-link simply because they don't believe that I am who I am?"

Logical fallacy.

  1. No one has accuse you of anything. You were only asked for confirmation.
  2. No one has tried to "extort" you (are you serious?)
  3. No one asked you for free advertisement (as you claim in your response to one of our comments)

You are over-reacting.

This is normal, routine check by steemcleaners. Steemit is flooded with fake identities and blogs stealing content from various personalities claiming to be authors.
If you use content from your own site, you need to verify the authorship in some way.
You can add the mention/link to Steemit on the section of your site that it hardly being visited.
The temporary mention is acceptable.
Or you send an email to one of steemcleaners members from the e-mail provided on your site.

It is beneficial for you, in case some user submits a report accusing your of plagiarism/stolen identity.

I don't think you understand what logical fallacy means. At any rate, my content is my own. As 100% owner of my content, I choose how I distribute it: I don't have to verify authorship at all.

Steemcleaners is harassing me, requesting that I confirm my identity by specifically giving Steemit a mention or link. That provides SEO "link juice," which is something of great value, considering that I'm a mainstream-media columnist. I will not be extorted into providing this value or providing any associated credibility with Steemit.

As I have written in my post above, if Steemcleaners has any reason to doubt my identity, they can take multiple steps to ensure that I am who I am. In all honesty, they can dive into my deep body of work to realize that I speak the truth about my identity.

That would have been the smart and courteous approach. Unfortunately, we live in a society where people attack first, and ask questions later.

That's just crazy. I think anyone who follows you here or on youtube or both, knows without a doubt that it's you in both...So I don't get how you have to prove yourself. You can even tell after a while how someone writes. Fakers usually have a different way of writing and/or make spelling mistakes...It's like fake accounts showing up on steemit chat lately, asking for money to resteem or upvote. They use the names of prominent services, but with a little different spelling, but they give themselves away by making huge spelling mistakes or grammar gone wrong. Anyway, I hope they leave you alone now. It's more than annoying.

@Steemcleaners stop this madness, this aint Sparta!
