🕺 Perchè in molti stanno uscendo dall'ETF Grayscale?
Nonostante il successo degli ETF, quello di Grayscale è l'unico prodotto che sta registrando outflows da $550 milioni ogni giorno di media. I motivi per cui ciò sta accadendo sono principalmente due:
- Alcuni investitori stanno prendendo profitto, in quanto hanno preso GBTC al bottom con uno sconto pari quasi al 50% rispetto al NAV (di fatto comprando BTC circa a $12k).
- Molti altri invece stanno disinvestendo in GBTC per affidarsi a ETF della competizione più economici che non applicano una commissione annuale dell'1,5%.
Conclusioni ::
- Nonostante quasi $3 miliardi in outflows registrati fino ad ora da Grayscale, la maggior parte di queste vendite sono state assorbite dagli altri ETF.
- Probabilmente la pressione di vendita causata da GBTC continuerà ancora per un po'. Seguendo questo ritmo mancherebbero altre 9 settimane, ma è difficile pensare che l'ETF arriverà a 0, quindi 3-4 settimane probabilmente è una stima più realistica.
- 🟤 Grayscale detiene anche 3M ETH nel loro fondo ETHE, per un valore di ~7,4 miliardi di dollari. Questo probabilmente causerà dinamiche di mercato simili se un ETF spot su ETH dovesse essere approvato e Grayscale convertirebbe il suo fondo ETHE in uno simile a quello convertito da GBTC.

🕺 Why are many people exiting the Grayscale ETF?
Despite the success of ETFs, Grayscale is the only product that is recording outflows of $550 million every day on average. There are mainly two reasons why this is happening:
- Some investors are taking profits, as they took GBTC at the bottom at an almost 50% discount to NAV (effectively buying BTC at around $12k).
- Many others are disinvesting in GBTC to rely on cheaper competing ETFs that do not charge a 1.5% annual fee.
Conclusions ::
- Despite nearly $3 billion in outflows recorded so far by Grayscale, most of these sales have been absorbed by other ETFs.
- The selling pressure caused by GBTC will likely continue for a while. At this rate there would be another 9 weeks to go, but it's hard to think the ETF will get to 0, so 3-4 weeks is probably a more realistic estimate.
- 🟤 Grayscale also holds 3M ETH in their ETHE fund, worth ~$7.4 billion. This will likely cause similar market dynamics if a spot ETH ETF is approved and Grayscale converts its ETHE fund into one similar to the one converted from GBTC.
