Get ready for episode 2 of Around the Block ! This week we have a Steemit Inc’s Head of Communications, @andrarchy.
If you are not sure who this @andrarchy guy is, here are a few details. He has been part of the Steemit Inc. team since 2016. He started out with Steemit Inc. as Content Director and his current role is Head of Communications. He has spoken about Steem and Steemit at numerous events around the world and will now share the mic with Bucky and Jedi let you know the inside scoop.
@andrarchy will be in the hot seat for 60 minutes to answer all your questions. That's right, we want your questions. Put your questions in the comments of this post. @buckydurddle and @jedigeiss will do their best to get your questions answered by the Communications Ninja.

Not sure I will make the show, but can we reduce the number of witness votes from 30 to say 10 or maybe even less? The chain is really not very decentralized when we have just a couple of the largest stake holders determining all 20 of the top witnesses...
I'm looking forward to it and it's already on my calendar! I'm pretty sure that anything @andrarchy is able to share with us will be of interest.

The question for the show: Is Steemit Inc considering reducing the number of witness votes an account has to 10, to improve the decentralization of the witnesses and reduce the power of the accounts which currently almost solely decide who becomes top 20 witness?
Yes this needs to be done ASAP.
I don't think they're interested in it, nor are the top witnesses, as far as I can tell. Received pretty much zero discussion about it from them last fall. One responded and basically said, "There may be security concerns." When asked to elaborate...no response.

In my opinion, the current numbers are a serious enough concern to merit serious discussion. Unfortunately, as a Steem witness, I seem to be quite alone on this subject. I'm sure that in another couple of years some other more "popular" voices will mention it and then it will be discussed off-chain somewhere...then the solution offered to the community will be worse than the original code.
Meh...such is Steem.
