When people buy shitcoin that has been pumped they assume a big risk because it can be dumped anytime and they could be left holding undervalued shit in hands. They just turned money into garbage. Many times they don't even know it was a shitcoin so they were scammed.
However, if you know what you are doing, you can profit with shitcoins. For example buying low a coin that has low supply, some kind of community around, pumps before in its historic data or active bots may be sucessful. In any case you'd better observe and study it a lot before otherwise this isn't wise investment.
