This is 20 km away from the coast. Near Santiago do Cacém. Dunno if you ever heard of it.

It's hard to advise a non touristic place these days. Portugal became a big tourism "Village"...
On that matter I would advise you to go up North or to the interior. Avoid the coast line if you want more quiet places.
Yes, the Italian coasts are quite busy as well.. but you can still find some quiet, secret places ;).. thanks for your advice!!
I would look for old medieval villages. Mostly up north and interior. Normally they are surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes. It's 2 in 1 :)
My region (Umbria) is like that! Medieval town surrounded by nature! I like this kind of landscape

Monsaraz is a good example of that. With the biggest artificial lake in Europe right at their feet ;)

It's very pretty indeed. You can even stay inside the walls, some locals rent part of their houses or the whole thing.

When I saw the thumbnail of this picture I saw an elefant out of the tree on the left. Then I opened it and saw the house and the fence and the other tree but my brain still sees an elefant out of the tree on the left :o
