Today is the day that Sinterklaas arrives in the Netherlands with us. We celebrate this party on 5 December and it’s a typical Dutch / Belgian thing I guess. But celebrations nice windows of the shops. And That means that there is great music everywhere in the city. If you live in a city center, you have almost certainly been woken up by a street organ once or twice in the weekend.
Turning musically , organs are indispensable on Saturday's streets. An oily tune, and the nice folky songs makes that people turn heads. You either love the organs or you hate them. Almost no one I know loves barrel organs, but they are there every week, and they still make money to.
The organist is in front of the organ and has his golden bucket for half or one euro for the effort and appreciation.
The details are so nice this organ was 60 years old, but that’s what the guy said I have no proof.
I stopped and took these pictures and gave the organ player an euro. He told me some things about the organ. And I saw he was a proud owner. And I walked along my path with a smile on my face from the music today in the streets of the city centre on the cold weather.
