Sunday Scent Experience - Almonds in Castelo Rodrigo, Portugal
Castelo Rodrigo is a charming well-preserved mediaeval town in the Beira region of Central Portugal. It sits on a high hill which dominates the surrounding countryside. This photo was taken from a viewpoint on the east side of the town, looking over the tops of several almond trees on the slope below towards the border with Spain, about 5 kilometers away. Unfortunately due to our distance from the trees it was almost impossible to get any scent off the tiny flowers.

Oh, I love the smell of an almond tree in bloom, with it's honey like vapor surrounding me! How lovely is that?
