TENACITY EPISODE 1
A virtue possessed by champions that makes them winners over their challenges. I chose this word among several other synonyms because it placed an unusual emphasis on it's meaning. Other that add to the meaning of what i'm talking about: Perseverance, Persistence, Determination, Endurance, Resilience. Most brilliant student possess theses qualities and hence fail to give up even when the situation is extremely difficult.
I remember one week in the first semester of my third year when we had a series of interim Assessment from Monday to Thursday. just after our on Wednesday it was announced that there would be another test on Friday. The last one had drained almost every bit of energy from our bodies, and most of us were more than exhausted. After the Thursday paper as was expected, many of us just lacked the urge to sit on our buttocks again for hours trying to understand concepts. The strength was gone, motivation was just not there and the material to study was very overwhelming. Giving up was more than certain. Many people read a little and gave into tiredness and sleep. For others the sight of the enormous material to study alone scared the strength out of them and so they gave up. Someone said" Man came to do some, not all"".
One of my mates seemed unperturbed by what was going on around him. We were studying the Reading Room and l noticed that every every now and there he would get off his car, walk about a little and then return to bury his head in the fat books and papers scattered in front of him. Sometimes he would stretch, obviously in the same discomfort. Some one would poke his head in the Reading Room and shout at him to leave the books and go to sleep but he would not budge. He was determined to make it, come what may and so he perserved and endure the pains and all those discouraging remarks hurled at him. He possessed that tenacity that most of his friends did not have.
He was rewarded later when the results of that particular exam came and he had stretched with the highest score of 85%. His endurance, perseverance, persistence and determination had payed off. People thought he had some extraordinary abilities but the secret was simple;he only had to stick to pillar number three. #TENACITY
