Ray Dalio: The World Has Gone Mad and The System is Broken

Just putting my own thoughts down here instead of making a separate post, mostly just a short freewrite on the topic of the world going mad.

Ray Dalio is one of those rare people that has wealth and a working conscience at the same time. For most people, money corrupts them through and through, but Ray hit his head or something and still views the world through a lens where other people matter and aren't just statistics. Instead of giving into the mania of greed and power that is clearly infecting world leaders, Ray took the time to promote his book and boost his ego inform the world that the system - one that must behave in a perpetual state of mania in order to stay alive - has infected people with its mania as well. One of the symptoms of mania is irritability. I'd say people are plenty irritable these days. Just say the wrong thing and whole mobs of people will attack you, putting the pain and anger from another time squarely onto your forehead. This is manic behavior, and this behaviour can be followed by depression and even schizophrenia (i.e. another rise of extreme right-wing Nazism that goes to war with the world). I think what is different this time is that a good portion of the world is connected online, meaning that there will be no claim to ignorance after the fact, other than "I thought it was fake news, how did I know XYZ was actually happening?" Just think about that for a moment. Much of the world never knew the atrocities that were committed in Germany during WW2, and most still don't know the full extent of the suffering. But today, people are being programmed to disbelieve anything that is labelled as News, so that if and when atrocities are committed again, people will later say they didn't know because they thought it was fake.
