The Deep Blue Sea & Me
For over thirty years, I have swum in these waters and walked along the white beaches. I have bent down to scoop up shells and sat toes buried in the sand, staring out into the crystal sparking waters and deep blue beyond.
These are the beaches of my childhood.
I have seen these beaches through a child's eye, relished salt air freedom as a bare foot carefree adolescent and soaked up the blessing of a soothing ocean into my thirties. Now I can watch my daughters frolic at the waters edge, shovelling sand with their adorable pudgy fingers.
Along these shores I have found; rare and exquisite shells, washed up sea creatures and seahorses, silky driftwood, unusual cargo debris, intriguing seaweed, big sponges, joy, peace, love, sorrow and grief.
In these waters, I have experienced the purity of the ocean and a simplicity of life.
I have graced these beaches for swims and walks at dawn, midday, dusk and the pitch of midnight.
I have seen the colours change with the wrath and fury of wild weather and the pristine clarity of golden sunshine.
I have pondered, chatted, laughed, cried, danced and cartwheeled here at the start of the ocean.
I have shared these places with friends, enjoyed it among strangers and witnessed the sea alone, with the bliss of solitude in nature.
I love these beaches. They are part of me and my story.
I miss not living near the ocean.
I particularly miss not living near these shores.
I may live up in the mountains, far away from here but I am forever going to be a West Australian beach girl with sand between my toes, salt in my hair and the ocean in my heart.
Until next time,
xx Isabella

What is that Perth? There are pines there?
Albany - about 400km south of Perth in the south west corner of Western Australia. Yes there are plenty of norfolk pines down in Albany, some particularly tall and thick ones at Middleton Beach.
Interesting, I wouldn't have imagined to see trees like that in Australia.
It first reminded me of South Lake Tahoe in the summer.
Looks serene.
I loved the sea and beaches too. My memory of watching sunset at Tanah Lot, Bali is forever etched in my mind.
What an amazing place, linen white sand. Gorgeous.
what a lovely place :)
The sea gets in your blood, those of us who grew up in it.
place of my dream. It's amazing feeling when you close your eyes and just hear the waves. When you can just live Now. without thoughts about past and future. Being yourself...
Thank you!-)
